Welcome to the Town of Norwell, a picturesque, residential community of approximately 11,140 residents.

The Town Clerk's Office provides the following services:

  • Records and maintains vital records (Birth, Death, Marriages);
  • Issues licenses for: Marriages, and Dogs;
  • Issues Burial Permits;
  • Underground storage tank renewals;
  • Raffle and Bazaar Permits;
  • Issues Business Certificates;
  • Registers Voters
  • Prepares Census/Street Listings
  • Provides Notarial Services.
Notary Services

Town Clerk Patricia M. Anderson, CMC/CMMC, Assistant Town Clerk Laurie A. Davis and Registrars' Agent Jean Valicenti are Notaries. Documents needing  notarization should not be signed until the Notary reviews the documents, checks the photo ID of the person needing the notarization, and the oath is given.

Please note that Chapter 222 section 17e of MA General Laws reads as follows:

A notary public who is not an attorney licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth shall not conduct a real estate closing and shall not act as a real estate closing agent, provided, however, that a notary public who is employed by an attorney so licensed may notarize a document in conjuction with a real estate closing conducted by the attorney and a notary public who is employed by a lender may notarize a document in conjuction with the closing of such lender's real estate loans.

Please know that the Town Clerk's office Notary Service is not available for wills, living wills, power of attorney, living trusts, codicils or depositions.

Notary Service is by appointment only, it is advised to call the office to make an appointment.  When making an appointment, we will ask what type of a document you will need Notarized. The office number is 781-659-8072.
