What is the 50-ft resource buffer?

The 50-foot zone adjacent to any jurisdictional resource area in Norwell is considered a protected resource.  No new disturbance or construction is permitted without first filing a Notice of Intent with the Conservation Commission requesting a waiver from the regulations.  To obtain a waiver from the regulation, the Applicant must provide evidence and documentation including but not limited to the following: 

1. The area predates the regulations or is lawfully existing; 

2. The work will be conducted in a manner that results in no adverse impact to the wetland resources; and 

3. The work will contribute to the interests protected or at least provide a net positive ecological balance for the resource interests protected.
