Norwell Conservation Day

Come join Norwell Conservation at Jacobs Pond on August 19th from 9am to 1pm as we host our 2023 Conservation Day. Come learn about and enjoy one of Norwell's many protected and conserved lands. Parking will be at the South Shore Science Center at 48 Jacobs Lane.
Activities included:
Guided Kayak / Canoe Tours of the Pond with Brian Taylor of NSRWA. Vest, kayaks, and canoes provided. First Come basis. 9-10 and 10:30-11:30
Waban Webquish (Mashpee Wampanoag and Natick Nipmuc) leads a walk on Indigenous Land Management Practices. Max 20 people, first come first serve. 9-10
Trail Steppin’ with Steve Ivas. Learn about the geographical history and features of this special park. 9-11
South Shore Natural Science Center Edge of Pond, Hands On Ecology. This is great for young explorers. 9-1
Explore the History of Jacobs Pond and the Historic Jacobs Farm West Fields with Wendy Bawabe, a local Historian of the Norwell Historical Society. 10-11
Face Painting by Avis Pinkos & Karen Hawthorne. 10-12
Vaishnavi Ramesh, local naturalist, guides a Backyard Birding Walk around the Pond. Learn how to spot and identify birds with simple tools you can use in your back yard. 11-12
Join NSRWA's Brian Taylor and Entomologist Blake Dinius for a Guided trail walk looking at flora and fauna. Visit a rare glacier esker. 12-1

Learn about fire safety and outdoor safety, touch a truck, and more, with Norwell Police & Fire. As Available
Come enjoy the great outdoors, plenty of activities for all ages. Talk to NSRWA about the Purple Loosestrife Project. Help the Eagle Scouts clean up the park and repair the trails. Visit Hornstra Farms for ice cream and other treats. Visit Cross St Flower Farm across the street for flowers and bouquets.
