Invasive Species Management

With Spring underway, many of us are starting to garden, landscape, and do yard work. As some may know, there are many invasives species that are out competing native plants, and driving away birds, insects, and other native wildlife. Removal and treatment of these plants are not necessarily easy, and if done improperly, can cause them to spread more. Norwell Conservation Commission, Beautification Committee, Open Space and Recreation Committee, and Board of Health are working together to educate the public on proper treatment and disposal of these invasives. Below is a flyer with information on the three most common invasives found in town and how to properly treat them. Please check out the Mass Audubon website for more information on all types of invasives. Any and all work near wetland will need approval from the Conservation Commission first. Feel free to call the Conservation Office with any questions or concerns.
