What does the Conservation Commission do?

The Conservation Commission is charged with protecting natural resources through regulatory permitting, resident advocacy and land protection.  The Commission balances a significant work load to benefit the residents of Norwell.  We manage almost 2,000 acres of open space land containing 18+ miles of passive woodland trails, 10 active farm fields and numerous parking areas and scenic stone walls.   Inn addition, the Commission reviews projects occuring near and in wetlands to help ensure that wetland resources are protected consistent with the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Town of Norwell Wetland Bylaw.
