Inspections & Occupancy

ALL INSPECTIONS ARE MANDATORY, WHERE APPLICABLE, FOR PERMITS ISSUED. 

Frame, Insulation, Rough Electrical, and Rough Plumbing and Final Inspections are MANDATORY. Other Inspections include: Fireplace Throats, Pools, Sheds, Roofs, Woodstoves (Solid Fuel Burning Apppliances), Decks, etc.

TO SCHEDULE AN INSPECTION PLEASE CALL THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT AT 781-659-8018. ALL REQUESTS SHOULD BE MADE 24 TO 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE BY THE CONTRACTOR OR PERSON PERFORMING THE PERMITTED WORK. 

Inspections are typically provided between 10:00AM and 3:00PM. Once an Inspection Request is received, the designated inspector will reach out to the requester or applicant to coordinate a day and time. Duplicate inspection requests will not be accepted. Inspections cannot be provided until the scope of work subject to review has been permitted.

CERTIFICATES OF OCCUPANCY: 

The complete application MUST be provided to the Bldg. Dept. one week prior to the date needed for CO to be issued on time. Applications will not be accepted without all supporting documentation, including:

• A copy of the building permit including all required signatures 
• Completed application including all applicable Department sign-offs and square footage for each occupied level and indicated unfinished spaces
• Certificate of Compliance (M.G.L. Ch. 148, §26F and §26F1/2) Issued by the Fire Department (where applicable)
• Certified Foundation As-Built 
• Application Fee
