Saturdays: 9:00am - 3:00pm

Spring/Summer/Fall: April 1st to October 31st

Wednesdays: 12:00pm - 6:00pm
Saturdays: 9:00am - 3:00pm

A Recycling Sticker is required on all vehicles (Driver's Side - Front Bumper). Recycling Stickers are available at the Norwell Health Department and the Recycling Center during hours of operation (Proof of Residency is required). There is no charge for the sticker.

  • The Norwell Recycling Center is for Norwell Residents only. This includes residents not part of our Curbside program. (HOA residents, apartments, and condos)
  • The Norwell Recycling Center does not accept household trash or Styrofoam.
  • Item Disposal Stickers can be purchased via cash or check at the Norwell Health Department prior to drop-off. The Recycling Center accepts checks only made payable to: Town of Norwell
  • No commercial businesses or vehicles are allowed.

Acceptable Items - No Fee:

White GoodsStoves, Dishwashers, Washer, Dryer, Hot Water Heaters
Scrap MetalSwing Sets, Auto Parts, Lawn & Office Furniture, Bikes, Lawn Mowers, Gas Grills (tank removed), Scrap Metals, etc. All items must be drained of all Gas, Oils, and Hazardous Materials.
Yard WasteGrass Clippings, Leaves, Brush up to 3" diameter only. No logs. No stumps.
ElectronicsStereo Equipment, VCRs, DVD & Blu-ray Players, Printers (Ink/Toner removed), Computer Towers/Desktops (Not to include Displays)
Mercury Products

Fluorescent Lights, CFLs, Mercury Switches (Analog Thermostats), Thermometers, Lamps that contain Mercury (High Pressure, projector)

Chemical Element/Lab Mercury is not accepted (See Household Hazardous Waste Program)

Household Single Stream RecyclablesPlastic Bottles & Containers, Food & Beverage Cans, Paper (Shredded paper in a paper bag), Flattened Cardboard & Paperboard Only, Food & Beverage Cartons, Glass Bottles & Containers
TiresPassenger Tires, Truck Tires, Rim Mounted or Unmounted (Limited to 4 per day)
BatteriesCar Batteries, NiCad Batteries, Lithium Batteries, Zinc Air, Rechargeable Batteries
Propane TanksEmpty 20lb tanks only
Oil Based ProductsOil Based Paints, Stains, Motor oils. 

One use Alkaline non-rechargeable batteries can be thrown in the regular trash. Since 1993 these no longer manufacture them with Mercury.

ElectronicsTVs, Displays, Computer Monitors, Laptops, Tablets

Latex Paint is not hazardous and may be disposed of in a trash bag for curbside collection. Latex paint will only be accepted if it is completely dry (kitty litter, paint hardener, or saw dust can speed up the process). Paint Cans must have the lids removed prior to disposal.
Latex Paint that is still serviceable can be recycled through Recolor Paints.
